1/1/12

a day to reflect how far you have really come,

it’s easier to reflect on the year just gone by comparing where you were just 365 days before. As the clock ticked over to welcome 2012, I could finally see how much I had achieved in such a short time period. As I drunkenly huddled with an amazing group of people counting down at midnight, I could acknowledge how much I had lived, loved and lost in 2011. And just how much I had grown with and without the most important people in my life.

The year just passed has been an incredibly successful one, filled with friends, experiences and achievements which have been unforgettable and life changing. In just a single year I have let so many incredible people into my life but have also said goodbyes to two of my oldest and dearest friends who I miss more than anything. I have wrapped the body of dead woman in Indonesia, drank cocktails on the 45th floor of a hotel in Tokyo, dived with sharks and manta rays in the Great Barrier Reef, completed a degree, swam in the Archibald Fountain in Hyde Park, gotten a sweet job and saved a shitload of moolah. I have dreamt bigger than ever, gotten over my first proper heartbreak, joined a gym, fought, cried, laughed and have started over again. For the first time in my life, I am proud and the happiest I have ever been. Even if the apocalypse comes 2012, I will never regret the way I have utilised my time considering the year just passed and the endless opportunity and prospect for the year ahead.
